VIC: IP Economics – An Introduction to Valuing Intellectual Property in a Business. Tuesday 13 August 2019

In conjunction with ACC Australia, Watermark and Glasshouse Advisory are pleased to present: IP Economics, an introduction to valuing IP in a business.

As at June 2018, the total value contribution of intangible assets (including intellectual property) to the enterprise value of ASX 100 companies, whether capitalized or unrecorded, was almost half, and growing. The level of risk in a business is increasingly attributable to its intangible assets, and gaining access to intangible assets is increasingly at the core of mergers and acquisitions.

Recent changes in tax law have also shone a spotlight on the value of intangible assets, and how and where they are owned. Understanding the value of intangible assets, and how to more certainly quantify and leverage it are critical activities in the modern management suite.  This seminar will introduce Corporate Counsel to the concept of IP valuation, explaining :

•           how IP valuations can assist Corporate Counsel
•           empirical methods for doing so
•           the basics of financial methods for valuing IP including the sort of information that is required to be collected and saved to support a valuation
