The 2019 WA Innovator of the Year program (IOTY program), which showcases Western Australia’s brightest entrepreneurs and class leading technology, launches on 26 March 2019 with applications open on 27 March 2019.
The IOTY program is an initiative of the State Government’s New Industries Fund, aiming to enable SMEs to develop greater opportunities to commercialise their ideas and innovations and expand to create new jobs.
Now in its 13th year, the program has celebrated some of WA’s most talented innovators who have gone on to commercialise new products and services, win new markets and disrupt old ones.
The WA Innovator of the Year program 2019 welcomes Rio Tinto as primary sponsor. Business News, DXC Technology, South 32 and Woodside continue their support with business and industry focused Encouragement Awards, providing an opportunity for direct access to some of the leading businesses in Western Australia.
Finalists and semi-finalists in the program receive mentoring and pitch training. Finalists also receive a video showcasing their innovation. Finalists can also use the prestigious Innovator of the Year 2019 logo recognising their achievement.
The 2019 Young Innovator of the Year program is also growing from previous years to encompass student teams from a broader range of schools.
Mark Pullen, Principal, Watermark, has been involved with the WA Innovator of the Year program since its inception in 2006.
“It’s a privilege to be part of such a dynamic and continually evolving and exciting program” said Mark Pullen.
“WA Innovator of the Year continues to gather momentum and the support of major industry players has been instrumental to its success and longevity,” he said.
Award winners will share in close to $150,000 in prize money and all finalists and semi-finalists will participate in a mentoring program providing pitch presentation training, one-on-one mentoring, financial planning tools and more.
