Consolidation and globalisation continue to challenge your business.  To stay at the leading edge of the industry – you need to employ the world’s best practices in the chemical industry.  Which is why Watermark is here to protect and defend your products.

Recent Experience

Here are few of the projects we’ve successfully worked on behalf of:

European Chemical Company
atent infringement advice

We provided invaluable advice for a European international chemical company regarding a patent infringement for an active ingredient used in pest control.  The defendant filed a cross-claim seeking to have the patent revoked, and the matter was successfully resolved following a court ordered mediation.  The defendant was ordered to publish a notice stating that their product will no longer be available for the duration of our client’s patent – which still remains in force.

Multi-national chemical company
Australian opposition to a patent

We managed the successful Australian opposition to a patent concerning the Bayer process on behalf of a significant multi-national chemical company.  This project involved locating relevant prior art and preparing the opposition case with the assistance of an expert witness.  The strength of our case led to the applicant withdrawing the application before the opposition hearing.

US based chemical processing company
Drafting 15 patent applications

With instructions issued directly from the US parent, we were able to successfully draft 15 patent applications for a significant multinational chemical company.

CSIRO spin off
Commercialisation of biodegradable polymers

We advised a CSIRO spin-off company with drafting and negotiation in technology development, licensing and supply contracts.
