The International "Next Big Thing" Award" 2009 is an international search to find the best new innovations and inventions that have the potential to be the next big thing. There is A$60,000 available in cash and prizes and A$100,000 in media exposure/promotion. An exhibition of the finalists' inventions/innovations will be held at Melbourne Museum, Melbourne, Australia, and there will be a sponsors' breakfast as well as a "deal flow day"and more.

The International Next Big Thing Award 2009 is an initiative of INNOVIC, a not for profit organisation that provides a range of services to promote and support innovators and help commercialise new ideas.
It is reported that some 76,000 people viewed the 2008 finalist awards and exhibition.
