Carla graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Physics) and Bachelor of Electronic Engineering with Honours from the University of Melbourne. Prior to graduating, Carla was employed within the Advanced Networks Division of a leading firm which designs and manufactures Network Testing and Measurement equipment for the telecommunications industry. Carla then went on to complete a Masters of Engineering (Electronics) in the area of micro and nanotechnology, her thesis concentrated on novel ways of fabricating microfluidic channels and the analysis and behaviour of nanoparticles within those channels, having applications in both biomedical and optics fields.

While completing her Masters, Carla also worked at both the University of Melbourne in the Optics department and RMIT University in the Microelectronics and Materials Technology Centre, conducting research in areas such as lasers, optical fibres and microfluidic channels in devices such as for the early detection of cancer. After completing her Masters in 2003, she worked within the Communications and High Technology market division of a global management and technology consulting company. Carla joined Watermark in 2005 as a Trainee Attorney and is currently undertaking her Intellectual Property Law studies at the University of Melbourne.
