Mark holds an Honours degree in Physics from the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England. His studies included developing a computerised patient treatment planning system for combining CT and X-ray images in cancer treatment.
He developed a broad foundation of industrial experience in mechanical and electrical engineering working in the railway industry in the UK, and serving as a Marine Engineer in the Royal Navy.
Immediately prior to emigrating to Western Australia in July 2000, Mark worked for two years as a patent examiner in the UK Patent Office, South Wales. His fields of interest there covered a broad spectrum of mechanical and electrical technologies, taking in subjects as diverse as vehicle engine management systems and borehole telemmetry through to coin discrimination and product packaging systems.
