Jill has a background in both Medical research and the law, having spent 8 years as a researcher at the University of New South Wales' Medical Professional Unit's immunology Department at St Vincent's hospital, Sydney and several years as a scientific officer in Haematology, Biochemistry and Microbiology laboratories of several other large Sydney hospitals.
Jill was admitted as a solicitor in 1987. She practised in the areas of commercial litigation, specialising in intellectual property law and then in corporate law before joining a firm of patent and trade mark attorneys in 1990 where she worked until early 2002. During her time there she gained considerable experience, particularly in prosecuting and advising in relation to chemical and biological patent applications owned by large international corporations (mainly "big pharma") and in defending and opposing the grant of patent applications for those clients in opposition proceedings before IP Australia.
Jill joined Watermark in 2002 where she works in the Biosciences and Chemical Technology groups.
