Carol has a Bachelor of Science (Biology - molecular biology stream/Biotechnology double major) with Honours from MurdochUniversity. Working with the Rumen Biotech research group, she undertook research as part of honours project and continued with the same research group for a period thereafter , to successfully create a working bioassay using enzymes extracted from recombinant bacteria for the purpose of detecting fluoroacetate (compound 1080) in biological samples in field operations. During her university studies, Carol gained a broad spectrum of knowledge in a range of biotech and biological disciplines, from immunology, microbiology, molecular biology and bioprocessing. Prior to joining Watermark in 2006, Carol gained experience working as a technical assistant having primary responsibility for managing a large portfolio of clients and their IP matters in a wide range of technologies, from patent drafting and prosecution (both in Australia and overseas); trade mark prosecution (Australia and overseas) and disputes, including running oppositions; and design prosecution, and acting on behalf of clients in relation to infringement matters
